Attorney Gary Syverson has announced his retirement from the Swenson Lervick Law Firm as of July 1, 2015.
Gary joined the Swenson Lervick firm in 1975. For the next forty years, he handled creditor’s remedies, commercial law, estate planning, and probate matters for clients throughout west-central Minnesota. But Gary’s primary focus was real estate law.
A self-proclaimed “dirt lawyer,” he was certified as a Real Property Specialist by the Minnesota State Bar Association. His advice influenced countless real estate transactions and guided the extensive development of residential, commercial and municipal projects throughout West Central Minnesota.
Within Swenson Lervick, Gary understood the critical importance of putting the right team together and creating an environment with just the right mix of hard work, fun and family. His steady leadership, dedication and zest for life outside the office was a model for the firm’s other attorneys and employees, many of whom have been with Swenson Lervick for nearly his entire tenure.
In addition to his professional service, Gary has been very active in the community. He served on the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Sertoma, the Alexandria Golf Club, Alexandria/Douglas County Developers, the Cardinal Athletic Foundation and Dollars for Scholars.
Originally from Willmar, Minnesota, Gary graduated from Augsburg College in 1972 and from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1975. Gary and his wife, Nancy, have two grown sons. He is greatly looking forward to spending more time with them and his grandchildren.
To Gary, we say “Thank you!” Thank you not only for your service to our clients and community but also for all you have done for the Swenson Lervick firm. Congratulations on your stellar career, and we wish you the very best in all that you do!
